This orchid was discovered by Milena Vasquez, daughter of Bolivian botanist Roberto Vásquez in El Chapare, the amazon jungles of Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1981, when Milena was six years old. Milena converted his father botanical drawings into cyanotypes as a way to keep his botanical legacy alive.
